the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts (GRFA).
The Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation (LRAEF) partnered with the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts (GRFA) to produce a new Louisiana Culinary Heritage Cookbook. This high-quality publication showcases 100 recipes from Louisiana's greatest chefs and ProStart© students and features the winning artworks from GRFA's 2013 Scholarship Art Contest.
All proceeds from the sale of the cookbook benefit LRAEF and GRFA programs.
The Art Contest
The George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts (GRFA) sponsors an annual art contest for junior and senior high school students with a different theme created by artist George Rodrigue. In 2013, students were challenged to create a piece of two-dimensional artwork based on the theme of the contest: “Louisiana’s Culinary Heritage.” The winners (ten seniors and five juniors) received over $45,000 in college scholarships and awards to continue their education.
In addition, GRFA teamed up with the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation (LRAEF) to feature over 100 recipes from LRA member chefs and restaurants, as well as ProStart© culinary students from around the state. The winning artwork from the 2013 student contest illustrates the recipes in the cookbook, compiled by James Beard Award winner, Marisa Bulzone.
This high-quality publication promotes Louisiana’s culinary heritage, both in art and food, and is available for $24.95. Proceeds benefit both GRFA and LRAEF.
